Is your patio covered in weeds and moss? Is it green and slippery? Do you have unsightly black or white spots everywhere?
An occasional sweep and regular weed control can help, but sooner or later it needs to be properly cleaned.
You could attempt a DIY job, using a domestic pressure washer, designed for cleaning cars. If you have tried this you soon realise that it is very labour intensive and that the equipment is simply not up to the job. It also means you get less time to do the things you enjoy.
Types of surfaces we clean:
We can professionally clean block paving, concrete, paving slabs, York stone, Indian sandstone, crazy paving, tarmac, porcelain, resin-bonded surfaces and pattern imprinted concrete.
How we clean your patio:
If there are a lot of deep-rooted weeds, it is best to treat them a week or two before pressure washing.
You can easily do this yourself with a glyphosate weed killer such as Roundup, or we can do this before coming to clean your patio.
On the day of the clean, we start by sweeping or blowing the surface to remove any loose dirt and debris.
We then clean the patio with a pressure washer, using a range of nozzles and a flat surface cleaner.
We then apply industry standard chemicals to kill the stubborn organic stains, such as lichen, black spot or algae.
Once the chemicals have been allowed to dwell and take effect, they are rinsed off.
The chemical treatment is very effective and leaves no lasting effects, it also biodegrades very quickly.
We will rinse off the building and plants after pressure washing your patio.
We will clean up any sludge and sand that is removed during the washing process.
If the patio is made of block paving we will return on a dry day to re-sand the blocks. It is essential that block pavers are resanded because it secures the blocks in place and prevents any movement.
We can apply an optional biocide treatment to help actively prevent the premature regrowth of moss, algae, lichen and other biofilms. Please note biocide is not a weed killer, you will need to control weed growth with a weed killer.
We normally quote patio cleaning prices by the square meter.
How to estimate the cost of cleaning your patio.
To provide you with a fixed quotation we will need to measure your patio ourselves, but estimating the cost is easily done yourself by pacing out or measuring the area you would like cleaned. For most people, one metre is a large stride.
Multiply the length by the width for the number of square metres x the cost per square metre for cleaning.
For reference; a public car parking space is around 15m² and a tennis court is around 200m²
Some stains, especially oil, may not be completely removed, even with specialist treatments. We will always try our best, but we make no promises to completely remove them, especially if they have been allowed to soak in for an extended time. It may be possible to swap stained block pavers with clean pavers in some cases.
Please note that whilst most jobs progress without any hitches, factors such as poor drainage or low water pressure may affect our pricing.

This patio was laid a few years ago but never jointed/grouted. The joints between the slabs were full of moss and debris and needed to be cleaned before I could apply the jointing compound.
